Things I’ve noticed on this trip

Labour has to be dirt cheap here. They have ample staff working the grounds. It’s amazing how many people they employ here. For example, a typical hotel back home will have 1 concierge, maybe 2 max. Here, there must be 40… concierges! It’s kind of unreal.

This place is so huge, they have 1 section when you enter the resort for check-in. Then on the opposite side of the building, is a place just for checkout. It’s actually very smart, because at the checkout, they wait for you to try to sell you vouchers to come again.

There aren’t many drunks here. As in, there aren’t that many people getting intoxicated here on the all you can drink alcohol. This is probably because it’s a not a resort for younger adults (think adults in their 20s), and it’s also not a cheap resort. That’s what we’ve been chalking it up to.

The weather this time of year is pretty amazing. 23 degrees when we wake up, 27-28 degrees max highs. A nice breeze is constantly blowing. It’s been a fantastic week of weather. It poured cats and dogs once (Isla and Connor got caught in it), for maybe 5 minutes. It may have rained overnight too, but obviously we were sleeping.

This week is also a great week to come for it wasn’t too busy. The resort was noticeably less busy than when we came last time during spring break. However, it has gotten quite busy starting this evening. I think a lot of people have checked in today and are going to be staying here for the most expensive week of the year. Apparently, according to our concierge, it’s a gong show this next Christmas week.

The service at this resort has been really good. All the staff have been kind, and helpful. (Except for one server whom Tammy quite disliked… Guillermo. LOL

I feel so tall here. It’s awesome. I’m literally taller than probably 90% of the men here. All the locals are super short!

There are a lot of Southeast Asians here. Way more than I remember.

There aren’t many mainlanders. Mandarin was rarely heard this past week. There weren’t that many East Asians either. Funnily though, there were way more that checked-in today. We were joking it was because none of them wanted to take their kids out of school until school was out.
