Dolphin Day!!

Ok, so this isn’t the type of thing we would do when we go on trips. We don’t usually do these tours because they are expensive, but this one specifically because it we see and read so many things on how bad it is for animals in captivity. But our booking with the member actually included 2 tours per family, so we decided to just go ahead and book a dolphin experience since it was only a half a day instead of all day like the other tours. This has been our earliest day so far, we woke up to get to breakfast at 9am at Habibi. Habibi is always really busy, and we were worried we would not get a table so we went early to make sure we could eat before our tour because there is not food to eat there. So far, Habibi has been Wes favorite so far. The restaurant is really beautiful and the food is right up his alley.

Our bus to get to the dolphin place is at 11:15 am, and it came right on time. I’m quite impressed at how everything here starts right on time, like to the minute. The spas and the tours have so far operated every efficiently and I’m quite impressed. The ride to the dolphin pool took about 20 minutes and it was a nice bus, which I wasn’t expecting.

When we got there, we found out we were the 12:40 time slot, which means we had almost an hour to kill! I guess they do this so that they don’t get late for stuff, but there’s a lot of time to kill. They probably also want to give you time to buy souvenirs at the shops. There is a sundeck area with a pool, so we hung out there until it was our time.

Tammy was originally going to wait to decide whether or not to join the kids based on how sad the pool and the dolphins looked, and it looked pretty sad to us. She decided to go anyway, and came out saying how cute it was and the dolphin and the guy who was demonstrating for them seemed to really care for them. It was so cute, I don’t know how I feel about a place like this existing but I definitely like seeing the kids experience it. Craig said he thought the dolphins were rescues which made me feel a bit better, but I don’t really believe it. Afterwards, so of course, they try to sell you pictures. $35 for one picture or $60 for all pictures and videos. Guess what I chose? I figured the tour was already free and the pics we have were so crappy because the viewing area was so far. Anyway, we have nice pictures lol.

We got back to the resort around 2:45pm. Straight away, we headed to the Cusco pool, where we hung out until around 6:30pm. Our last afternoon of swimming. Jen was kind of enough to go to Los Tacos and get us a bunch of fish tacos too!

I ended up going to the gym, and so did Kit and John. I finished my workout around 7:30pm and headed back to the room to shower and get ready for dinner. The kids had already gotten back to the room by then and had already showered and cleaned up. Lisa and I ended up heading to the building to have some tapas at Tapas y Vino.

We also shared a picanha steak when we were walking to the Tapas bar. There was an outdoor concert and fire show that was happening not far from our room that was serving freshly grilled meats, tacos, as well as picanha steak!

After Lisa and I ate a tiny bit of tapas, we decided to go to the Grand Buffet to have some more food. It was Hindu night! I just had a small sampling of a few items. It was meh at best.

By now, it was 8:30pm and we had a reservation at Jade again (Japanese). Their Chutoro tuna sashimi is amazing. It just melts in your mouth. Definitely the best item on the menu.

The kids headed to the arcade while we were finishing up dinner. After dinner, we went to the games room again to hangout. The dads watched the sad sack Canucks lose again. Sigh.

It’s 1:35am now. We are back in our room. I decided to order some room service seeing as this is our final evening here. Our flight leaves at 6pm tomorrow, and we need to check out by noon. Talk to you tomorrow!

Just got our room service! LOL.

We just finished eating (Lisa’s already asleep).
