Out on Okanagan Lake

Sleep has been of utmost importance to me on this vacation. It hasn’t disappointed. I woke up at 10:15am. John, whom woke up earlier, was kind enough to have already bought some coffee from Tim Horton’s for the rest of us!

We watched some Olympics on TV, specifically the pole vault, where Canada won bronze! Jacob ended up eating some leftover pho which gave him a tummy ache. Before we knew it, it was approaching 1:20pm, and we had to be at the boat rental place by 2pm. Karen organized the rental of a boat for us for a couple of hours. Here we are waiting for the boat:

It was a great time on the lake. We had a pull from behind seated blow-up inflatable. The kids, and even most of the adults (except John) had a turn on the ride. Most kids had multiple turns on the ride. We also did some swimming in the middle of the lake. It was nice having life jackets for all of the kids too. The kids had fun jumping off the side of the boat.

Before you knew it, our 2 hours were up, and we had to return the boat back to the pier. We disembarked and brought the kids to bubble tea at Chatime.

Then we walked back to our apartment. The boys went back to the room, while I brought Lia and Isla to the swimming pool. They were still wanting some more fun in the water. I ended up napping pool side while they played.

At about 6:30pm, we headed back to the room and the girls showered and had a snack of some fish pakora and butter chicken that Lisa bought at a nearby Indian restaurant. She also baked the kids a lasagna that we bought from Costco. That’s what the 5 kids had for dinner. The adults walked 20 minutes to a Thai restaurant called Pick Thai. The food was hit and miss. Some of the dishes were good, some weren’t. Regardless, the price was right. We sat out on the patio, on a nice warm night in Kelowna. We’ve been lucky that there haven’t been any forest fires in and around Okanagan this time around. The weather has been fantastic, other than a 30-minute thunderstorm the other evening.

After dinner, we walked to Parlour, the ice cream shop that the kids and adults went the evening before. The ice cream there is reasonable, and they make fresh waffle cones right on the spot. Here’s the line…

After some ice cream, we walked over to the casino. The wives played a little roulette, while I watched John and James play some blackjack. The girls went back early, while the boys ended our evening around midnight. We have one more full day here tomorrow, then we’re coming back home on the Friday. Geesh, that was too fast.
