Travel day to Orlando

Our day started relatively late. We left our house around 1030am for YVR. Our flight would be departing at 1:15pm to Dallas. We would then have a 1.5 hour lay-over, before flying to our final destination, Orlando. It was a long day, for our flight from Dallas to Orlando was delayed by 40-50 minutes. We didn’t get to Orlando until 1am!

Needless to say, the air travel is a necessary evil unfortunately. Luckily though, the flights were pretty affordable. The below is for a round trip.

A huge group of us will be in Orlando with us. We’ll all be staying in a big house. 17 of us! The Foo’s (4), Andy, Chris, Anth, Wong’s (3), Fung-Ly’s (3), and us (4). Yeah, it’s a big group! So big that we had to rent a mini-van, and two 7 passenger SUVs.
Back in 2017, I bought four 7 day Disney World passes using airmiles. Back then, when I bought them, they didn’t have expiry dates to them, unlike if you were to buy it today. Those four 7 day tickets were about $1300 CAD in total. Those same tickets today would be $2709 USD. US Dollars!!! So yeah, we made out pretty well!
We eventually landed in Orlando at 1am, got our rental vehicles, in my case a huge Cadillac Escalade. (It drives great, but the user interface and buttons in the interior are terrible). James, Christina and Nathan flew from Toronto earlier in the day, and touched down in Orlando around 9pm. Their first course of business was to fill up our pantry and fridge with food. So, by the time we arrived at the house, we were stocked (at least we thought we were). When we arrived at the house, we settled in, chose our rooms and got ready. As for ‘stock’ of what’s in the house. There isn’t much of anything. No condiments, no oil, no salt, no sugar, 1 roll of toilet paper in each washroom, 1 dishwashing pod, 1 laundry detergent pod, 1 garbage bag. Yeah, it’s sparse to say the least.
We put the kids to bed, and the adults didn’t get to bed until around 3:30am local time. Jen, John and Jacob are flying the red-eye and wouldn’t get in until this morning.
We’ll be going to Magic Kingdom tomorrow! Until then!
