Overcast and a little breezy

The kids and Mommy started the day off at about 10am (which would be 8am back home). In Cancun, they actually don’t jump forward an hour for DST, so we’re only 2 hours from PST now. They headed for breakfast at the buffet with the Wong’s, whilst I woke up around 10:30am and promptly met up with them shortly thereafter.

After breakfast, we headed back to our rooms to get changed, and went to the pool. We hung out poolside until about 3:30pm. We had lunch poolside as well. Some roast chicken, and hotdogs were on the menu.

The pool itself was pretty quiet today, probably because of the weather. We then headed down to the beach to play some beach volleyball for about 30 minutes, before the court was bombarded by all these adults. So we headed back to the rooms to shower and clean-up. Connor is developing some volleyball skills as well, which is heartening to see!

I went to the gym do get in a quick workout, and by the time I got back to the room and showered, we were off to dinner. Tonight would be a dinner at the La Gran Tortuga, a Brazilian Steakhouse where they server all these different types of meat and cut it off a huge spit right at your table. The food was much better than at the buffet, which was a nice change. It wasn’t excellent, but it was hot and fresh, so that was a start!

The kids enjoyed the dinner much more as well. They served lamb, filet mignon, sirloin, pork, chicken, grilled pineapple, etc. The pork and the chicken were probably the best items on the evening. There was also and all you can eat salad bar, as well as some tuna tataki, and of course dessert.

After dinner, we headed to the theater to watch a magic show. It was surprisingly pretty good, and lasted about an hour. The kids thought it was ‘okay’… man, kids these days are not easily impressed.

It was a little chilly this evening too, where all of us were actually wearing our long sleeves out. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and warm however. My assumption is that we’ll have another repeat day, just lounging poolside and relaxing!

We sat around the lounge area having drinks and playing some foosball before eventually calling it a night…. well for the kids and the wives at least. Oddly, I was thinking to myself that it was strange that James hadn’t mentioned going to the casino at all. If any of you know James, he likes to dabble in the art of gambling. So, I mentioned in passing to James that I was surprised that he hadn’t mentioned wanting to go to the casino. You should have saw the look on his face. “There’s a casino?!?!?!” His face just lit up. hahaha, he had no idea that there was a casino near the entrance of our resort by the highway. Needless to say, we went not long thereafter. I’d say we were there for a good hour, where he ended up making a whole $10! Better up than down I say!

The days are starting to pass by a little quicker, which I’m not fond of! I am enjoying the pace though! Squeezing in these types of lazy vacations, where doing nothing is the main purpose; is nice every once in a while!
