Cast life =(

Our day started off really fun.  We went to Terra Nova with the Chins to go tobogganing after a day of heavy snow.  And then Isla and Eli came down the hill – and crashed into an adult sitting at the bottom.  Isla was sitting in front and had her leg stretched out when she hit the guy.  She was crying of course, and we thought maybe she was ok.  We decided to leave, but Isla seemed to scream and cry alot everytime we would move her, so we decided to take her to the hospital, just in case. Of course, 5 hours later, she came home in a cast!  She was a trooper at the hospital – so brave.  She freaked out having to get xrays taken because she had to stretch out her leg, but she did it.  She ended up having a slight fracture on her shin.

She lived in a cast for about 5 weeks.  She was using crutches at first, but she couldn’t get used to it so I got her a small walker – which she liked a lot better.  I wanted to make sure she was mobile at school, or else she woudl just be stuck sitting on a chair and would always need help to get around.  She also had to travel with us to Houston and New Orleans in a cast, but she did it like a pro!  She even started to just walk with her cast on after a while.

This is when she got the cast off.  She didn’t like the feeling of her leg hanging without a cast after 5 weeks, and would not put any weight on it.  It took her a while to start walking on it again.  And her leg was all hairy!  But she was very happy to finally wash her leg and have a proper bath!
